Information Technology
Agents resolve, provision and remediate. Humans hold cyber and change authority.
Phase: Phase 4 — Governed autonomy
Run service, identity and infrastructure as a self-healing estate: classification, routine resolution, approved provisioning, telemetry correlation and patch staging are agent work; privileged access, architecture and major incident command remain human.

Eleven decomposed sub-functions, each with its own estate rating
Sub-functions
Information Technology, decomposed
Nobody automates a function. They automate the sub-functions inside it, at different speeds, with different ceilings. Each one carries its own orchestrator, its own human owner, and its own honest limit.
Autonomy ceiling range
82%→93%
The binding constraint here is Network — capped at 82%.
Detection and known-fault remediation run without a human. Network configuration changes carry enterprise-wide blast radius, so peer review and a change board are mandatory.
Service Desk Orchestrator · human owner Director, Service Desk
estate rating
Owns ticket work end to end inside Information Technology. Runs 3 lines across 17 stations, drains the repeatable share into the IT tower, and holds 1 human gates.
The single highest-volume agentic surface in IT. Classification, knowledge retrieval and self-service resolution need no human at all below the escalation line.

Identity Orchestrator · human owner Director, Identity & Access Management
estate rating
Owns access request work end to end inside Information Technology. Runs 3 lines across 19 stations, drains the repeatable share into the IT tower, and holds 2 human gates.
Standard joiner and leaver flows are fully touchless and faster than any human process. Privileged and out-of-role access always requires a named approver and expires automatically.

End-User Compute Orchestrator · human owner Director, Workplace Technology
estate rating
Owns device work end to end inside Information Technology. Runs 3 lines across 19 stations, drains the repeatable share into the IT tower, and holds 2 human gates.
Imaging, enrollment and patching are deterministic and reversible. Only spend commitments and persistent non-compliance reach a person.

Owns infrastructure change work end to end inside Information Technology. Runs 3 lines across 16 stations, drains the repeatable share into the IT tower, and holds 3 human gates.
Scaling, waste detection and restore verification are automated inside a spend envelope. Anything outside the envelope escalates before it costs money.

How to read an estate rating
The rating is not a maturity badge. It scores seven control dimensions — control coverage, evidence quality, override discipline, data integrity, recovery readiness, cost transparency, and judgment readiness. Judgment readiness runs deliberately against autonomy: a sub-function that has pushed automation hardest usually scores worst on whether a human could still take the decision back.
